Son of John Newman and Nellie Pearl Grigsby Beckham, he married Mildred Irene Fairchild and Virginia Williams. The children of John Keith Beckham and Mildred Irene Fairchild are: (1) Peggy Beckham born 17 Feb 1962 who married Michael Kuhner; and (2) Bradley Steven Beckham born 22 Nov 1962 in Elk Prarie Twsp, Jefferson Co, IL who married Ellen LeGrand.
Keith “Tuffy” Beckham, went on to his Heavenly home to be with the Lord at 3:02 A.M. Monday, October 10, 2016 at his home in Bonnie, Illinois. He had attained 86 years of age.
Keith was born October 7, 1930 in Bryant, Illinois, son of Neuman and Nellie (Grigsby) Beckham. At a very young age the family moved to the Waltonville, Illinois area and Keith attended the Dareville and Waltonville schools.
On June 1, 1950 he married Irene Fairchild. She preceded him in death on September 3, 1991.
On July 1, 1992 he married Virginia Williams and she survives.
In addition to his wife, Keith is survived by two daughters: Sheryl (Jerry) Wilderman and Peggy (Mike) Kuhner, son: Brad (Ellen) Beckham, grandchildren: Brent (Dawn) Wilderman; Mindy Gauger; Chad Wilderman; Amanda (Andrew) Lynch; Chris (Jessica) Kuhner; John (Rachel) Beckham; Steven (Amanda) Beckham; and Andi Jo (Steven) Scott, great grandchildren: Brooke and Peyton Wilderman; Taylor Gauger; Madison, Mason, Carmen, and Ryan Wilderman; Brylee Kuhner; and Hayden Lynch, two brothers: Charles (Meda) Beckham and Art Beckham, and sister: Ruth (Dave) Buford.
He is also survived by many nieces and nephews that he loved very much and called him “Uncle Tuffy”. Many brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law also survive.
His mother and father, first wife: Irene, brothers: Burl; Clyde; and Kenny Beckham, and sisters: Margaret (Alden) Fairchild and Shirley Beckham preceded him in death.
Keith worked many years at the Vernois Stove Foundry, was a coal mine examiner, and was Road Commissioner of the Elk Prairie Township for 12 years. He was also an accomplished wood worker and participated in craft shows throughout Southern Illinois and Missouri. He owned and operated “Keith’s Wood Shed”. The part of his life that meant the most to him was his personal relationship with God. He accepted Christ in 1954 and joined the Waltonville Freewill Baptist Church where he served as a Deacon, a Trustee, and Sunday School Teacher. He did many activities with the youth, serving as a basketball coach, always insisting he wasn’t much of a coach. The best memories of that time included when he would buy the boys a hamburger and Coke after the games. He had a heart for foreign missions and did many projects to raise money, including planting a strawberry field. He laughed when his children worked hard to help and encouraged him to find a different way to raise money the next year. Waltonville Freewill Baptist Church meant so much to him and he faithfully attended until his recent ill health. However, he continued to pray for his church family as he was a faithful prayer warrior. He loved his Lord, his church, and his family.
Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 A.M. Thursday, October 13, 2016 at Waltonville Freewill Baptist Church in Waltonville, Illinois with Pastor Curtis Smith officiating. Interment will follow at Abner Cemetery in Nason, Illinois.
