Mrs. Matchett suffered a heart attack an hour earlier and was rushed to the hospital by a Crippin ambulance. Six weeks ago she was hospitalized with a heart attack.
Sarah Emma, daughter of William and Sarah Pennington Hilliard, was born in Wayne County August 2, 1882.
On October 28, 1903, she was married to Ira Matchett, with four children born to this union. One child died in infancy. Also preceding her in death were her parents, two brothers and three sisters.
Mrs. Matchett and her husband last October celebrated their sixtieth wedding anniversary.
Early in life she confessed her faith in Christ and united with the Glenwood Baptist church, where she held her membership until her death.
Surviving are her husband; one son, George; two daughters, Cristelia Dunlap and Cleo Bosley; a sister, Mrs. Joe Matchett; eight grandchildren; six great grandchildren; two half-brothers; and three half-sisters.
Funeral services were held at the Glenwood Baptist church, near Johnsonville with interment in Cisne Cemetery.
