Mrs. Jones was born in Treutlen County and was preceded in death by her parents, Norman Gillis, Jr., and Atlas Braddy Gillis, and a sister, Grace Pollette. She taught school for 38 years and was retired from Treutlen County High School. She was a member of the First Baptist Church, Soperton, and the Helen Perry Sunday School Class.
Survivors include her husband, Joe Jones; step-daughter, Rebecca McCoy, Milledgeville; sister, Bobbie Thompson, Soperton; brother, Norman (Bo) Gillis, Soperton; and several nieces and nephews.
Services will be held in the Chapel of Sammons Funeral Home at 11 a.m. Wednesday, May 26, with the Rev. George Grimes officiating. Burial will be in Westview Cemetery, Soperton. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Tuesday from 6 to 8 p.m.
