was called home to be with the Lord at 1:22 a.m. on Tuesday, April 5, 2016. Alvie as born on August 31, 1927 Blackwell, OK to Oris and Annie (Pinkley) Dill. On February 7, 1950 he married the love of his life, Betty Fay Chambers. God blessed this union with three sons.

Alvie and Betty moved to the Competition area where they milked cows. On July 16, 1954 a tragic accident took the life of their first son. Their grief was almost more than either could bear but God gave them the strength together to get past this and blessed them with two more sons.

Alvie was saved October 31, 1959 at Charity Missionary Baptist Church where he joined and was a member until his death. Later God called him to preach His word. Alvie pastored and held revivals all over Southwest Missouri. He wanted everyone to know God like he did.

Alvie loved to work on the farm. He bought his parent’s place and others that joined. He was a very hard worker, always cutting brush, picking rocks, planting crops; he never stopped working. His sons joined him on the little dairy farm and, in 1979 they formed Alva Dill and Sons partnership. Every day, seven days a week, he, Betty and their sons worked side by side. Later two of their grandsons joined the farm and also worked by his side. Alvie was a very humble and caring man, always thinking of others and never of himself.

Alvie was preceded in death by his parents, Oris and Annie Dill; a son, Roger Dill; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Dolan & Peggy Dill and Ivan & Anna Lea Dill; and a host of church family, brothers and sisters in Christ, that he served the Lord with. He is survived by his wife of 66 years, two sons and daughters-in-law, 3 grandsons, 4 step-granddaughters, 1 brother and sister-in-law, 1 sister, 1 brother-in-law & wife and 1 sister-in-law & husband. He also leaves a host of great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and friends and neighbors who he loved so much. Alvie will be so missed by all that were blessed to have known him.

Funeral services will be conducted at 10:00 a.m. Friday, April 8, 2016 in the Cantlon Otterness Funeral Chapel with Bro. Scott Reynolds and Bro. Dusty Armstrong officiating. Escorts will be Jarrod Dill, Joshua Dill, Jordan Dill, Jason Fletcher, Carl Gann, and Mike Dill. Interment will be in Bethel Cemetery under the direction of the Cantlon Otterness Funeral Home of Buffalo. Visitation will be at 6-8 p.m. Thursday in the funeral home.
