Clarence Lee "Pete" Phillips, 89, of Minier, Illinois, formerly of Mahomet, Illinois, passed away on Friday April 8, 2016 in his home.

Pete was born on July 13, 1926 in Monticello, the son of Everett and Ina (Trumble) Phillips. He married Roseleen Walters on May 6, 1947 in White Heath.

Surviving are his wife; son, Steve Phillips (Ron Melvin); son-in-law, John Saathoff; brothers, Clyde "Scoby" Phillips and Roy (Joyce) Phillips; two grandchildren, Jared Saathoff (Natalie) and Luke Saathoff (Stephanie) and three great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one son, Dale Edward Phillips; one daughter, Debbie Saathoff and two sisters, Josephine Stamp and Bessie Nichols.

He served his country proudly in the U.S. Navy during World War II and was a member of the American Legion.

He was retired from building services at the University of Illinois-Champaign.
