Roy L. Phillips, 89, a Korean War veteran and beloved husband, father and grandfather, passed away peacefully, Oct. 17, 2018, surrounded by his loving family.
Roy was born Sept. 2, 1929, in White Heath, IL., to Everett and Ina Trimble Phillips. He married Joyce Cook of Monticello, IL. They recently celebrated their 67th Anniversary.
After working 42 years at Clifford & Jacobs, he retired and moved to Lakeland, Florida. Roy loved to travel with his wife and family camping all the way from California to New York and Canada. Roy never knew a stranger. He enjoyed sports and was an avid athlete himself. The Chicago Cubs were his favorite.
Roy was one of 5 children, all deceased.
He leaves behind his wife; 3 children, Bonnie (David) Kelley; Ted Leland Phillips and Brenda (Randy) Veteto; 5 grandchildren; 9 great- grandchildren; 2 great- great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. One particular nephew will be writing a special eulogy, Dr. Gary Stamp
A celebration of his life, for which we are truly thankful, will be held at 2 pm, Wednesday the 24th at Calvary Baptist Church, 1945 N Florida Ave., Lakeland, FL 33805.
In lieu of flowers, cards and condolences may be sent to Calvary Church or to PO Box 332, Nokomis, FL 34274
His remains will rest in Florida National Veterans Cemetery.
