Elcy was the daughter of Quakers Asa Palmer & Abigail Wooden.

Asa Palmer moved to NY state w his father, bros & some uncle's families. They all settled near each other in Madison Co. and Onondaga Co., (was Chenango Co). His 1st record is Dec 1802 in Phelps Twp., when he was deeded land north of Geneva, NY, then land in Waterloo (Junius)NY.

Asa Palmer was a Farmer and a Wheelwright, who hand-built the family's home on Lyons Road, 2 miles north of Geneva.

In 1817 & 1818, Asa and Abbie both joined the Quakers and attended the Friends monthly meeting at Junius (became Waterloo) NY.

They are buried (along with some of Elcy's siblings and extended family) at the Friends (Quaker) Meeting House Cemetery, 9 Ft Rd., 2.5 mi NE of Waterloo, Seneca Co., NY.

----Frances born 1809 m Daniel Wooden son of John Wooden and Julia Ann Aldrich. They had Wooden children-Andrew, Alma, Caroline & Harriet. After her husband's death, Frances settled in Calhoun Co., Mich near family;

----Alfred born 1811;

----Ann born 1814 m James Wooden;

----Rhoda J. born 1816 was a locally famous Suffragist in Seneca, NY, lived to 103 yrs casting her first ballot months before she died, she never married;

----Amos born 1818;

----Gideon born 1821, m Harriet Boise and had son Robert Palmer b 1872. Gideon, his wife Harriet and 8 year old son Robert were in the census for 1880, Town of Worth, Cook County Illinois, next door to his sister Elcy and her husband John2 Simpson. Gideon operated a Canal Boat, the "Gleam of Millport". He would load 127,000 lbs of coal (from PA) in Elmira, went north on the Chemung Canal to Watkins Glen & into Seneca Lake. At Geneva, he entered the Cayuga & Seneca Canal, then east to Cayuga Lake. At Cayuga Lake he then joined the Erie Canal at Montezuma, west of Syracuse. He then followed the Erie Canal west to Buffalo, where there was a great demand for the coal;

----Daniel born 1823 m Isabella Wilkins and had Palmer children Adell, Mabel & Florence (who married a man w/ the surname of Stafford). Disagreeing with his father Asa Palmer's anti-war philosophy, Daniel moved to Hadley, Will Co., IL in the fall of 1849. Sister Elcy & her Simpson family were already there. Military pension records show Daniel & wife moved from Hadley, Will Co., to Northfield, Rice Co., in 1854, where they lived for 8 years. Daniel was in the Mexican War as well as the Civil War in Illinois Company;

----Austin C. Palmer born 1826 m Angeline Dox and had Palmer children Edward, Lulu and George. He resided his entire life in Phelps Twp., New York, on his father's farm. His sister Rhoda was appointed guardian of his 3 children when he died.
