Laura Mae Bond, age 98, Fairfield, passed away Friday, December 3, 2010, at Tri-County Extended Care Center. She was born September 1, 1912, in Green Hall, Ky, the daughter of the late James & Lou Emily (nee Pierson) Evans. She married Hobart Bond in Ky, on October 25, 1936. Mrs Bond is survived by her husband of over 74 years, Hobart Bond; one son, Donald (Pam) Bond; two daughters, Shirley Howard & Joetta (Gary) Smith; seven grandchildren; 22 great grandchildren; three great great grandchildren; & many nieces & nephews. She was also preceded in death by her sister, Vina McWhorter & her brother, Delmas Evans. Laura “Mae” managed Bond’s Restaurant on Grand Blvd & after retirement as a chef, she enjoyed working with her hands making quilts, while baby-sitting for seven children. She also loved her flowers & enjoyed her vegetable garden until age 92.
Visitation at the Church of God of the Union Assembly, Hamilton, Tuesday, December 7, 2010, from 11:00 am, until the time of the funeral service at 1:00 pm, with Pastor Oley Wilson & Pastor Ron Howard, officiating. Burial to follow in Rose Hill Burial Park. The Webster Funeral Home, Fairfield, is serving the family.
