Martin was born on 10/10/1875 and baptised in the Polish Catholic church at Swiatkowo in Poland on 10/17/1875. His parents, Lawrence & Catherine Baranowski, migrated the family to the U.S. between 1881-1882 and settled in the Bay City, Michigan area. Martin was the fourth of at least ten children from genealogical records discovered thus far. His father filed a Declaration of Intent to become a citizen of the United States in 1884, but did not complete the naturalization process for himself and his family before passing away in 1890. As a young adult, Martin married Antonia Dobinski on 11/21/1898 and then chose to complete the naturalization process for himself and his newly-wed wife, Antonia, on 03/26/1900.

Antonia Dobinski was born in Poland in approximately 1877 and migrated to the United States with her parents (Casmer Dobinski & Rose Miezinski-Dobinski) and siblings as a young child. Antonia's family migrated to Bay City, Michigan where she later met and married Martin as stated above.

Martin and Antonia continued to live in Bay City and other cities around Michigan over the next several years, eventually settling in Raccoon Township, Beaver County, Pennsylvania around 1911 (rural farming area NE of the suburbs of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania). Martin & Antonia had one son (likely adopted) by the name of Stanley who was born around 1902.

Martin went to prison at the Western State Penitentiary in Pittsburgh in 1922 and was released around 1931-1934. Antonia & Stanley moved to the Pittsburgh area during this time and were located there in the 1930 Census.

Martin reunited with his wife upon his release from prison and Stanley moved out of his parents' home. Both Martin and Antonia passed away at the Pittsburgh City Home & Hospitals at Mayview which, at the time, had recently been annexed by the city of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Antonia passed in 1940 and Martin in 1963.

Please be aware that the birth date on a potential grave for Martin will likely mirror that of his death certificate (details posted below) as he was cared for by Little Sisters of the Poor, a group of nuns who cared for the poor and indigent of Pittsburgh, in his final days.
