Mary Ruth Speakes, 85 of Buckingham Lane in Lexington, passed away, Friday, February 15, 2013 at Homestead Nursing and Rehab Center in Lexington, Kentucky. She was born July 10, 1927 in Paint Lick, Kentucky and was the daughter of the late Ed and Ada Sparks Ballard. She was a nurse aid, enjoyed flowers, a member of Ladies Auxiliary VFW, gardening and loved birds. Along with her parents, she is preceded in death by her first husband; Donald Tedrow, her second husband; Ralph Speakes, a daughter; Sharon Gallardo, a grandson; Steve Gallardo, brothers; Glendon Ballard, Doug Ballard, Jim Ballard, sisters; Opal Lay, and Dorsie Lee Miller.
Survivors include her son; Ed Tedrow (Barbara) of Lexington, KY, brothers; Edward Ballard of Lancaster, Ky, Bobby Ballard of Lancaster, Ky, 4 grandchildren, 2 great grandchildren, several step children, and several nieces and nephews.
Services will be 4:00 pm, Thursday, February 21, 2013 at Ramsey Funeral Home with Pastor Kenny Speakes officiating. Visitation will be 2:00 pm until the time of service.
