William J. Crowell
In his 86th year, Wm. J. Crowell died yesterday at the homestead, near Avondale. He was born in Philadelphia, and practiced law for several years before moving to Avondale in 1878, due to health.
There survives his wife, who was Frances Eakins, daughter of Benjamin Eakins, a prominent writing master in Philadelphia, and seven children.
Mr. Crowell was known as a man of brilliant intellect, a scholar and a patron of music.
