Mary Martha (Bartley) Thurston, 91, wife of Cecil Herbert Thurston of Plaza Drive passed away Wednesday, March 9, 2016 in Kings Daughters

Community Health and Rehab.

Mrs. Thurston was born on April 28, 1924 in Montebello, a daughter of the late David and Betty (Campbell) Bartley.

Mrs. Thurston was a member of Faith Tabernacle. She enjoyed being a homemaker, playing cards, attending yard sales and watching wrestling.

In addition to her parents, Mrs. Thurston was preceded in death by three daughters, Carol Maxine Campbell, Mildred Ann “Fanny” Campbell and Hilda Campbell; a granddaughter, Shelia Campbell; six brothers and five sisters.

Mrs. Thurston was the last surviving member of her immediate family.

Surviving in addition to her husband of 42 years is a son, William Austin and his wife Karen of Staunton; a daughter, Mary Evelyn Austin of Waynesboro; nine grandchildren, Lisa Clark, Shirley Gayle Reist, Cathy McNeal, Sadie Agnor, Cindy Herrington, Tammy Forbes, David Campbell, Mike Campbell and Brian Austin; sixteen great-grandchildren; twenty-one great-great-grandchildren and a special care giver, Linda Clark.

The family will receive friends from 4 to 6 p.m. Sunday, March 13, 2016 in the Coffman Funeral Home and Crematory and other time at the residence.

A Celebration of life will be conducted at 2:00 p.m., Monday, March 14, 2016 in the Coffman Funeral Home Chapel by Pastor Dennis Bradley.

Burial will follow in Oaklawn Memory Gardens.
Active pallbearers will be Paul Lindsey, Terry Clark, Jim Herrington, Ernie Fitzgerald, Chris Forbes and Bill Taylor.

It is suggested those desiring make memorial contributions to Augusta Health Hospice Foundation of the Shenandoah, P.O. Box 1000, Fishersville, VA 22939.
