Jane Benson Doren married F. H. Brown on March 19 1881 at Logan in Harrison County, Iowa. Iowa marriage indexes record her father as Caleb Benson and her mother as Mary Jane Low. Francis H. Brown was recorded as age 50. He had married Betsey A. Benedict in 1866 in Kane County, Illinois. They were together in the 1880 Harrison County, Iowa census. Information about Jane's husband named Doren and Francis' wife named Betsy is unknown.

Mariah J. Brown, age 22, born in Ohio, was with her husband, who was listed as Franklin Brown, age 53, born in New York, in the 1885 Cass, Harrison Iowa state census. Charles Brown, age 21, and Linnie Brown, age 5, were also with them.

Francis H. Brown served in the 52nd Illinois Infantry during the Civil War. His name is recorded as Francis Hamilton Brown in a Kansas enrollment record for Civil War soldiers. Jane Brown, his widow, received a Civil War pension in April of 1896. A pension for his minor children was granted in 1897, with Jane Sesna, listed as the guardian.

George R. Sesna, (also a Civil War veteran) age 63, born in Ohio, was with his wife, Mariah, 37 OH, in the 1900 Coleridge, Cedar County, Nebraska census. They had been married for 3 years. Children with them in 1900 were Joseph S. (Stephen) Sesna, age 2; Edgar Brown, 8; and Lucy Brown, 6. The 1905 Doniphan County, Kansas state census shows M. J. Sesna, (Mariah Jane) without her husband. Stephen Sesna was age 7, "Lebra" Sesna was 7 months old, Frank Brown, 18, & Lucy Brown, 11. Maria J. Sesna, widow of George R. Sesna, of Co. A, 97th Indiana Infantry, received a Civil War pension, but a number of years after the death of George R. Sesna.

The 1910 Iowa, Doniphan, Kansas census records Jane M. Sesna, age 47 OH, as the mother of 8, with 6 living. She had been married 3 times and was with her son-in-law, Charles Rouse, and daughter, Lucy Rouse.

By 1920 Jane M. Sesna, 57, was in Gillette, Campbell, Wyoming, with her daughter, Lucy Rouse, 26, and her son, Stephen Sesna, 21, both born in Kansas. Pearl Rouse, age 9 KS, & Harold Rouse, age 4 IA, were recorded as her grandchildren.

Jane is recorded as the wife of William King in the 1930 West Linn, Clackamas, Oregon census. Her death date is recorded in the Oregon Death Index in Multnomah County.
