Marietta Elizabeth Folsom Westberry was born on July 26, 1860 believed to be in Berrien County, Georgia. She was the daughter of Lawrence A. Folsom (b. July 28, 1823, Pulaski County, Georgia, d. June 09, 1892, Adel, Berrien County, Georgia) and his wife, Mary Rodgers (b. October 09, 1832, d. November 27, 1890 Adel, Berrien County, Georgia). Marietta married General Jackson Westberry (b. September 29, 1864, Hamilton County, Florida, d. October 26, 1951, Moultrie, Colquitt County, Georgia) on July 20, 1884 in Berrien County, Georgia. Marietta Elizabeth Folsom Westberry and General Jackson Westberry had eight children: Arizona "Zona" Eva Westberry (b. April 07, 1880), Walter Emerson Westberry (b. May 18, 1885, Brooks, Georgia, d. May 20, 1914, Morven, Brooks County, Georgia), James Ansil Westberry (December 28, 1888, Brooks County, Georgia, d. March 15, 1974, Miami, Dade County, Florida), Linnie Mae Westberry (b. July 29, 1890, Berrien County, Georgia), Owen Leonard Westberry (b. August 13, 1893, Berrien, Georgia, d. December 17, 1973, Barney, Brooks County, Georgia), Loren Howell Westberry (b. May 04, 1895, Berrien, Georgia d. June 18, 1967), Willie Jefferson Westberry (b. August 29, 1898, Berrien, Georgia, d. May 24, 1976, Berlin, Colquitt County, Georgia), Rosie Lee Westberry (b. April 21, 1902, Clinch County, Georgia, d. October 25, 1975) and Bessie Clayton Westberry (b. August 09, 1904, Dooly County, Georgia, d. December 23, 1950, Miami, Dade County, Florida). Shortly after the birth of their last child, General Jackson left his family. According to older family members, General Jackson was a wanderer and farmer who lived mainly in the areas of Berrien, Brooks, Clinch, Lowndes, and Echols Counties, Georgia. Upon the death of Marietta Elizabeth Folsom Westberry, about 1912, General Jackson returned briefly for the funeral and was denied entrance to the family home by their oldest son because he had left them. She is buried at Campground Cemetery, Morven, Georgia (grave only marked by a small pile of rocks.) Her grave is just to the rear of her son's, Walter Emerson Westberry, tall log type monument on the left side of the church. The family did not want her to be buried next to General Jackson Westberry. A fund has been established to eventually purchase a marker for her grave by her two great grandsons.
