OBITUARY: Roger Adelbert Beckstead, Preston, Idaho-Roger Adelbert Beckstead, 70, died at home Monday of causes incident to age. He was born at Brigham City, Utah, October 20, 1869, a son of Gordon and Susan Sweeten Beckstead (sic). He had been a resident of Preston since 1883, where he was engaged in farming. He married Priscilla Martin of Preston July 15, 1887.
Surviving are his widow, two daughters and a son, Mrs. Kenneth Smith of Pocatello, Mrs. Maude Stowell and Elmer Beckstead of Preston; nine grandchildren, five brothers, Robert, Eugene, William, Francis and Roy Beckstead, all of Preston. Burial in Preston Cemetary.

HISTORY: From the Descendants of John Beckstead, page 170: Roger Adelbert Beckstead was a son of Gordon Silas Beckstead and Susannah Luckham. He was born in Brigham City, Utah, and moved with his parents to Preston, Idaho, when he was 14 years of age. After he married Kate Priscilla Martin, they purchased a farm at Swan Lake, Idaho where they lived a short time, then moved to Preston where they purchased another farm, which their son Elmer is still operating. Later they bought a home in Preston where their fifth child was born, and where they lived the rest of their lives.
