"Deanie" was my Mother-in-Law, but I called her "Mom" or "Mama, as did my 2 Sisters-in-Law, Anna and Kathy. Having 3 boys, but always wanting girls, we 3 were her daughters! As kind and loving as Mama was, she certainly was a force to be reckoned with! She rarely held anything back.. if she felt it, you knew about it! We would loving say that Mama could "Talk a dog off a meat wagon" meaning she could go on talking for hours (and I mean hours) at a time. She had a way of starting a story, but would get sidetracked by some detail in the story which lead to another story, and another, and sometimes you never got the whole of any one of the stories. Mama loved God with all her heart. For as long as I knew her (36 years) she never missed a day of reading her Bible and 'Spending time with God.' While Dad was alive, every single morning, Mom would make coffee, get her and Dad's Bibles, and they would sit at the dining room table reading their Bibles together and then 'discussing' what they read. And then they prayed together. Mama would then make breakfast and they would read the morning paper. It was a routine they never, ever deviated from, except on Sunday, when they would go to Church (First Church of the Nazarene)after their morning Devotions. Mama married Dad when she was just 15 years old, and he was 16! They loved each other dearly! When it was apparent that God would soon be calling Mama Home, Harvill's too numerous to count, gathered around her bed and as per her request, we 'Sang her Home', just as her and her sisters had done for their Daddy many, many years ago. We sang all her favorite Hymns: 'Unworthy' (her favorite), 'The Old Rugged Cross', 'Precious Memories'.... We (sons, daughters, grands, great grands, great grands, nieces, nephews, Pastor and friends) sang and prayed, and sang, and cried, and sang.. late into the night. God gently carried Mama home just a short time later. Her body was layed to rest along side Dad's, but we know she is rejoicing in Heaven!
