Gladys Mae Upton went home to be with the Lord Tuesday, February 9, 2016, following a short illness at Summers Nursing and Rehab Center.

Born February 29, 1932 in Hinton, she was the daughter of the late Burman and Emma Jane Bennett Adkins.

Gladys was a lifelong resident of Summers County. She was a homemaker who enjoyed spending time with her family and friends and going fishing.

She was preceded in death by her husband, James Tommy Upton; two sons, James Bobby Adkins and Jerry Fox; one daughter, Shirley Charles; two grandsons, Gregory Adkins and James Cyrus; three great grandchildren, Amanda Brinegar, Austin Bragg, and Desiree Adkins; three sisters, Mogene Fox, Madlean Adkins, and Patsy Gill; and three brothers, Clyde Bennett, Curtis Jackie Adkins, and Benjamin Adkins.

Funeral services will be 11:00 AM, Friday, February 12, 2016 at the Ronald Meadows Funeral Parlors Chapel with Pastor Robbie Merritt officiating.

Burial will follow in the Smith-Cyrus Cemetery at Tug Creek. Friends may call from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM on Thursday, February 11, 2016 at the funeral parlors.
