Claren was born December 18, 1927 in Idaho Falls, Idaho, to Carl Paul Theeopolis Holm and Zula Wilcox Holm. He grew up and attended schools in Roberts and graduated from Roberts High School.
He served in the United States Navy during World War II and the Korean Conflict. He received a World War Victory Medal and an Asiatic Pacific Area Campaign Medal.
He married Uzona Virginia Dutson. To this union were born four children: Corey, Layne, RaKell and Eden. Claren and Uzona were later divorced.
He married Clairelyn McKinley in 1970, which added three children to the family: Carrie, Tam and Stephanie. Claren and Clairelyn made their home in Idaho Falls, where Claren farmed in Osgood and Roberts.
He was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He enjoyed Harley-Davidson motorcycles and war movies. Claren was very patriotic and had a great love of country.
Claren is survived by his daughters: Carrie (Don) Potter, of Idaho Falls, Tami (Mike) Bolender, of Idaho Falls, Stephanie (David Odell) Scott of Boise, RaKell (Scott) Worton, of Idaho Falls, and Eden Holm, of Idaho Falls; sons: Corey D. (Tara) Holm, of Kaysville, and Layne Holm, of Las Vegas, NV; brother, Del Ray (Shirley) Holm, of Roberts, ID; sisters: Nelda (Richard) Adams, Veneta (Gus, deceased) Gustaveson, and Rhonda (Richard) Groberg, all of Idaho Falls; 21 grandchildren and 36 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Carl "Bud" Holm; and sister, Marna Adams.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, February 13, 2016, at the Idaho Falls LDS Mountain View Ward, 1450 Mountain View Lane, with Bishop Randy Wheeler officiating. The family will visit with friends Friday from 6:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Wood Funeral Home, 273 North Ridge Avenue, and Saturday from 10:00 a.m. to 10:45 a.m. prior to services at the church.
Burial will be in the Fielding Memorial Park Cemetery. Military Rites will be performed by the Bonneville County Veterans Memorial Team and Idaho Honor Guard.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations be made to the Bonneville County Veterans, 1934 N. 3750 E., Idaho Falls, ID 83401.
