Marna was born Feb. 23, 1923, in Rexburg to Carl Paul Theophilus and Zula Wilcox Holm.
She married her sweetheart, Willard Newton Adams, on Dec. 17, 1948, in the Idaho Falls LDS temple.
After graduating from Roberts High School, Marna attended Ricks College and Brigham Young University, where she received a Bachelor of Arts degree in English. With her love for education, she taught eighth grade at the elementary school in Ucon, Idaho, and taught Shakespeare at Ricks College. After moving to Salt Lake City, she worked in several doctors' offices and also worked for the U.S. Census in the 1960s and 1970s.
Marna was very accomplished. She was the student body president at Roberts High School and she received a citation for a presentation on poet Robert Frost at the Rhode Island State Capital in Providence, R.I.
She had many interests, including politics. Marla often spoke of world peace as she cared for people's suffering. She loved the arts and literature, especially poetry. She also enjoyed family history working many years researching her family's genealogy. She loved visiting historical sites while living in New England.
Marna is survived by her children, Blake Newton Adams of St. George, Utah, Lexie Sue Adams of Boston, Barton Claren Adams of Park City, Utah, and Sharon Mar Adams of Denver. She is also survived by eight grandchildren, five great-grandchildren and 33 nieces and nephews; and siblings, Claren Paul Holm, Nelda Adams, Veneta Gustaveson, Del Ray Holm and Ronda Groberg.
She is preceded in death by her parents, husband and brother, Carl Wendall Holm.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, June 21, at the Sunset 10th Ward, 415 Westridge Drive in St. George, Utah. A viewing will be held at the church at 10 a.m. Saturday prior to services, where friends and family may call. Interment will follow at Tonaquint Cemetery. Services are under the care of SereniCare Funeral Home of Salt Lake City.
