Joseph was baptised at Penistone 25 March 1759, the son of Isaac Bincliff and his wife Ellen nee Wood of Thurlstone.

He married:
1) Ann Lightellor at St Cuthbert, Ackworth on 10 June 1781.
Children: Mary 1781, John 1783, Joseph 1785, Isaac 1787, Elizabeth 1789
2) Ann Beeley at St Peter, Felkirk 27 December 1796
Children: Benjamin 1797, Ann 1798, George 1801, William 1803, Mary 1807, James 1809, Joshua 1812, Sarah 1816

Joseph was a blacksmith, and the family lived at Ryhill. In 1803 he paid £10 for an alehouse licence.

Joseph was buried 24 April 1836, aged 77
