William was baptised 25 December 1803, at St Michael and Our Lady, Wragby, the son of Joseph Bilcliff and his second wife, Ann nee Beeley.

He married Mary Thornton at Wakefield St John 26 December 1831.
Children: Martha 1832, Ann 1834, Emma 1835, William Henry 1837, George Beeley 1839.

William is recorded as a blacksmith in 1841 and 1851, and as a farm labourer in 1861 and 1871. In 1881 he is a widower residing in Archbishop Holgate Hospital (an almshouse) at Hemsworth.

He died there, and was buried 24 January 1887.
