William Greer Mitchell, 86, passed away Saturday, Sept. 21, 2002, at Chelsea Retirement Community in Chelsea, Mich.
Born June 26, 1916, in Peoria to Ernest Pearl and Elizabeth Greer Mitchell, he married Sylvia Chalmers in 1946 in Peoria. She died in 1973.
He later married Shirley Boling in 1982 in Indianapolis. She died in 1998.
He also was preceded in death by seven brothers and sisters.
Surviving are two daughters, Susan Mitchell Monroe and Jane Mitchell; and one brother, Charles of Peoria.
He was a World War II and Korean War veteran.
He was president of Eastern Express Inc. in Terre Haute, Ind. He began Oliver Trucking Corp. in Indianapolis.
Burial will be at Roselawn Memorial Park in Terre Haute.
