Funeral services were held Saturday for Henry Hammond Cobb, Sr., 59, of 4038 Cliff Road, a former special agent of the New York Life Insurance Company, who died Friday at the residence.
Services were held at St. Mary’s-on-the-Highlands Episcopal Church, with the Rt. Rev. Bland Mitchell, bishop of the Diocese of Arkansas, and the Rev. William H. Marmion officiating. Burial was in Elmwood Cemetery.
Surviving are the widow, Mrs. Virginia Jemison Cobb; a daughter, Mrs. Frank W. Hulse; a son, Henry Hammond Cobb, Jr., and two grandchildren, Frank Hulse and Mary Cobb Hulse, of Birmingham.
Active pallbearers were William M. Spencer, Jr., Wilmer Poyner, Jr., Lloyd Smith, Jesse Yates, Walter Stickney, Rhodes Goodrich, John Farley and H. Melville Davis.
Honorary pallbearers were Oviatt Bowers, of Tuscaloosa; E.O. Toombs, G.E. Shields, James T. Qualls, Dr. Edgar Givham, Judge M.M. Baldwin, Willis Hagan, William P. Engel, C.C. Blackwell, Joseph H. Loveman, L.L. Jones, and all Birmingham agents of the New York Life Insurance Company and members of the vestry of St. Mary’s Church.
