Funeral services were held here Saturday afternoon for Miss Gertrude Davant, 92 years of age, who died two days previously at Milledgeville where she had been a resident since leaving Butler many years ago.
Graveside services were conducted by the Rev J W M Stipe, pastor of the Butler Methodist Church, of which the deceased was an active member in early womanhood and during which time she was an art teacher in the local school.
She is the daughter of the late Prof and Mrs P E Davant, the former for many years the superintendent in the local school system. She was the sister of Judge Davant, former ordinary of this county, now resident of Cotsicana, Texas.
Edwards Funeral Home had charge of arrangements.
