Clem was the son of the late Philip E and Hortense Davant, formerly citizens of this county. He had made his home in Butler for the past fifty years.
Due to ill health the deceased was incapacitated to attend to business for a number of years. His friendly disposition won him a place in the hearts of all with whom he was associated.
The funeral service will be held a grave side here this afternoon at one o'clock. The Rev F J Gilbert, pastor of the Butler Methodist Church will officiate.
He is survived by one brother, Judge J E Davant, of Corsicana, Texas; a sister, Gertrude Davant; of Milledgeville, GA and several nieces and nephews.
J W Edwards II, Edwards Brothers Funeral Home of this city will have charge of arrangements.
