David Morrison died this morning at his home on South Jefferson street of complication of diseases. Mr. Morrison was 80 years and 11 months of age. He was born In Jefferson county O. He moved to Indiana in 1852, to Illinois in 1870, and moved to Kansas in 1878, and has made his home in the neighborhood of LaHarpe ever since.

He has been very ill since the second day of July. Early this morning he grew worse and died at 8:15.

He is the father of 11 children, of whom eight are living, six sons and two daughters. All live here except a son and a daughter in Kansas City and a son in Illinois.

The date of the funeral has not yet been arranged. The remains will be laid to rest in the Salem cemetery either tomorrow or Friday.

The funeral of David Morrison, who died yesterday morning was held this afternoon at 3 o'clock at the Morrison home at 211 south Jefferson street. Rev. Bright, of the Presbyterian church ad charge of the services. The interment was made in the Salem cemetery.

David Morrison was born in Jefferson county, Ohio, August 27, 1828 and died at the home of his son, D. H. Morrison, in La Harpe Thursday July 22, 1909, aged 80 years 10 months and 25 days.

He moved when quite young to Carrol county, Indiana. He was married to Mary A. Morrison in 1849. Eleven children, seven sons and four daughters were born to them, of whom six sons and two daughters survive: F. P Morrison of Homer, Illinois, Mrs. R. J. Jackson, of Iola; D. H. Morrison, of LaHarpe; Mrs. L. J. Emerson, of LaHarpe; Mrs. L. J. Emerick and G. H. Morrison of Kansas, Missouri; W. E. Morrison, of Jamaica, Illinois; I. O. Morrison and A. D. Morrison of LaHarpe.

In 1853 Mr. Morrison moved to Illinois and located near Homer. While there he was a member of the Presbyterian church. In October, 1878, he moved with his family to Allen county, locating near LaHarpe and living there until his death Thursday. Mrs. Morrison died April 17, 1904, and her husband was lonely without his helpmate of more than half a century. He has not been in good health since his wife’s death, and for some months had been very ill.

The funeral was held at D. H. Morrison’s Friday afternoon at 2 p.m., Rev. John H. Bright of the Presbyterian church preaching the sermon. The interment was in the family plot in Salem cemetery six miles southwest of LaHarpe. The pall bearers were Thomas Brister, E. H. Tobey, Albin Ramsey, D. T. Nash, P. W. Jury and S. H. Weith, all old neighbors and friends of the deceased.

Mr. Morrison lived for a generation near LaHarpe and lived the life of a big-hearted Christian gentleman. He was a man of exceptionally fine character and was held in high regard by all who knew him. His four score years were filled with good deeds and kind words and his memory will be revered. The family have the earnest sympathy of all in their bereavement.
