Wyoming Post-Herald, Wyoming, Ill., Mar, 12, 1891:
Mr. Jesse Elston died at his home in north Wyoming, Ill., of old age, Saturday night, March 7, 1891; aged 84 years and 3 months.

Mr. Elston was born in Ithaca, N.Y., Dec. 6, 1806. He moved from New York to Pennsylvania about 1828, and Oct. 11, 1829, he married the lady who is now his bereaved widow, having journeyed together for over 61 years. Ten children were born to them, six of whom—one son and five daughters—still survive. In 1849 he brought his family out to Illinois and settled near Bradford. In 1874 he moved to Iowa, and lived there until about two years ago, when he returned to Wyoming, where he has lived ever since, until death called him away.

Funeral services were held at the house on Tuesday morning, the 10th inst., by Rev. Dr. Jordan, and afterwards the body was taken to the Franklin cemetery [later named Smith Cemetery] for burial.
