He was named after his paternal uncle, Alley Dennis Boren, the first Lt. Governor of California, Judge of San Bernardino County (which encompassed Riverside County, Imperial County and some of Kern County at the time), Merchant, Real Estate Agent, Postmaster and the owner of a boarding house.
