In 1773 he moved with his father from the Catawba area of Botetourt County,Virginia to Fort Blackmore,Fincastle (Scott) County, Virginia. On August 21,1781,he got a Washington County,Virginia survey for 400 acres on the south side of the Clintch River. On April 2,1783, he got a survey for 368 acres on the south side of the Clinch River. On August 17 th, 1784, he was sued by Robert Tate with an order of dedimus being entered. In 1794, he was assessed in Davidson County,Tennessee as being in the bounds of Capt. Peter Looney's Company,and having 2 blacks and 640 acres. In 1795 he was assessed as 150 acres on Dry Creek with 1 poll and 2 blacks. In 1823 he was assessed as being in the bounds of Capt. Blakemore's Company and having 300 acres and 4 blacks. In 1824 he was assessed as being in the bounds of Capt. Haynie's Company and having 316 1/2 acres and 5 blacks in Rock Castle District.
