Eunice “Pat” Parker Bright, 91, of Amarillo, died Sunday, Dec. 13, 2015. She was born in Swisher County, Texas, March 1, 1924, a daughter of William Walker and Esther Tedford Parker.
She graduated from Lubbock High School in 1941, attended Texas Tech and graduated from The University of Denver, Colorado in 1945.
Mrs. Bright joined the First Presbyterian Church, Tulia, in 1936, and many years later became an elder in that church. She is a member of Texas Retired Teachers, Swisher Retired School Personnel, Farmers Union, and a life member of Phi Gamma Nu sorority.
She moved to Craig Retirement Community, Amarillo in 1998 and became an active member of St. Luke Presbyterian Church. Mrs. Bright loved people and enjoyed doing what she could to help others.
She married Wayne R. Bright on March 16, 1947, in Tulia, Texas. He died Nov. 7, 1999. She did secretarial work a few years and then taught elementary school 28 years in Hobbs, New Mexico, Craig, Colorado and Tulia, Texas, retiring in 1987. She managed the family farms in Swisher County since 1969.
She was preceded in death by her parents; two sisters, Juanita Spencer and Doris Ryan; and her husband.
Survivors include her niece, Patricia Ann Anderson of Cedar Falls, Iowa; her great-nephew, Spencer Parker Mowatt, who called her “Grandma”, several cousins, and many friends.
Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery. Memorial services will be at 10:30 a.m., Thursday, Dec. 17, 2015, at St. Luke Presbyterian Church, 3001 Bell, with Jim Wallace, pastor, officiating.
