WEST PORTSMOUTH - HERBERT ACTON DENNING, 84, of West Portsmouth, died Friday December 11, 2015 at Southern Ohio Medical Center.

He was born March 22, 1931 in Portsmouth to the late Leslie Royal and Ethel Hill Denning. He was the former owner of the Stadium Lunch. He was also a United States Army veteran of the Korean Conflict. He was a member of the James Dickey Post 23 American Legion where he served on the funeral detail for many years.

Along with his parents Herb was preceded in death by 6 brothers; Wayne, Charles, George, Harold, Darrell and Jerry Denning and 3 sisters; Mary Spurlock, Elizabeth Eulett and Olive Ratliff.

Herb is survived by his wife Joan Marsh Denning who he married on July 3, 1959, 2 brothers; Paul Denning of Minford and Ralph Denning of Payne, Ohio, 3 sisters; Elnora Montgomery of Hilliard, Betty Rollins of Wildwood, Florida and Louise Ethel Hicks of Ft. Wayne, Indiana. He is also survived by several of nieces and nephews.

There will be graveside services 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday December 15, 2015 at Sunset Memorial Gardens in Franklin Furnace with Rick Ratliff officiating. There will be graveside military rites by the James Dickey Post 23 American Legion. Arrangements are under the direction of the Roger W. Davis Funeral Home in West Portsmouth.
