"DR EDGAR C QUIMBY DIED LAST EVENING - Prominent Physician Has Passed Away - Dr Edgar C Quimby, for the past thirty years on of Titusville's leading physicians and one of the best known residents of the city, passed away at the family home on West Main street at 11:55 o'clock last night. Five years ago Dr Quimby's health began to fail. His malady, cancer, progressed in spite of all the efforts of specialists and for the past two years he had been unable to be about a great deal of the time. During the past six months Dr Quinby had been slowly losing ground and for some weeks his death had been hourly expected by his friends. Dr Quinby was born at Springboro, this county, Oct 31, 1856. He was the son of Amos Clark and Elizabeth Quinby and was the eldest of six children, all of whom are now dead. His early years were spent at Springboro and he obtained his elementary education at the Albion, Pa, and Conneaut, O, high schools. After leaving high school, he taught school for a few years and was associated with his father in the nursery business, earning enough money to take him through the Cleveland Homeopathic Medical college, from which he graduated with high honors in 1881. Shortly after leaving college, Dr Quinby came to Titusville. His first office was on a part of the William T Neill property on North Washington street, now owned and occupied by the J B Benton family. Later he removed his office to the corner of Washington and Spruce streets, where he lived with his parents many years. On June 21, 1898, Dr Quinby was united in marriage to Miss Lillian Seep, eldest daughter of Mr and Mrs Joseph Seep of West Main street. She survives him, with two daughters, Marian and Catharine. A son, Edgar, died in infancy. Dr Quinby is also survived by his aged mother, Mrs Elizabeth Quinby of Albion. Dr Quinby was a great lover of home. He was quiet, affable and an ornament to the noble profession which he made his life work. He was a faithful and consistent member of St Titus' congregation and a man whom everyone who knew him respected. Funeral services for the repose of the soul of the departed will be conducted Saturday morning at St Titus' churh, the hour to be determined later. The interment, which will be made in St Catharine's cemetery, will be private. Friends are requested not to send flowers."
