She was born in Mifflin county, Oct. 2, 1848 and if she had lived until Oct. 2nd, she would have been 89 years old. She was married to John H. Briggs, Nov. 19, 1872. They lived in Tyrone for 47 years. They came to Mount Union 9 years ago and Mr. Briggs passed away at the home of Mrs. Fields in 1930. Four children were born to the union but two survive. Mrs. Briggs was a Christian woman of sterling quality. She was a lifelong member of the Baptist church and at the time of death was a member of the Grace Baptist church of Tyrone.
