Obituary:
John Henry Briggs, retired employe of the Virginia Pulp and Paper company, Tyrone, died at Mount Union at 2:40 p.m. Monday, after an illness of four weeks. Mr. Briggs was born in Dublin township, Huntingdon county, May 1, 1848. He was married in 1873 at Mount Union and was a member of the Odd Fellows lodge there and of the First Baptist church at Tyrone, where he lived 35 years. Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Elizabeth Briggs, a daughter, Mrs. Charles Hahn, Mount Union, at whose home he died; a son Jesse J. Briggs, Washington, two sisters and a brother: Mrs. Matilda Bard, Mount Union; Mrs. Dessa Tweed, Philadelphia; Bruce H. Briggs, Springville, N.Y. Funeral service will be held Wednesday, 2:30 p.m. at the Gram & Son funeral home, Tyrone, in charge of teh Rev. H.F. King, D.D., assisted by the Rev. A.Z. Myers, Mount Union, who officiated at the wedding. Interment will follow in Grandview cemetery.
