B. F. Yountz, 69, 339 Second avenue southwest, furniture man in Cedar Rapids for many years, was found in an exhausted condition in the barn in the rear of his residence at 8 a.m. today after he had made an attempt to take his own life by hanging. He died a few moments later in his home.

Relatives said Mr. Youtzy had been despondent for some time, had been subject to heart attacks and had been worrying over the death of his wife, Mary M. Youtzy, last February 17.

Mr. Youtzy, born in Pennsylvania, came to Cedar Rapids thirty-five years ago. He retired from the furniture business about eighteen years ago and since had limited his activities to taking care of his local properties.

He had gone to bed as usual last night and arose about 6 a.m. today.

Surviving are three children, Charles R. Youtzy, Mrs. E. L. Hunter and Mrs. E. H. Winslow, all of Cedar Rapids; a brother, Andy Youtzy of Winslow, Ill., and three sisters, Mrs. Rebecca Kinney, of Wilkinsburg, Pa.; Mrs. Anna Fields and Mrs. Libbie Briggs, both of Mount Union, Pa. He also leaves five grandchildren. Mr. Youtzy was a member of the Modern Woodmen of America and the Trinity Methodist Church. The body is at the Rohn West Side chapel pending funeral arrangements.
