Olan Kinsey

Olan E. Kinsey, 66, of Sweetwater, died at 9:58 a.m. Wednesday at Rolling Plains Memorial Hospital in Sweetwater. Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Cate-Spencer Funeral Home Chapel with burial in Sweetwater Cemetery. Terry Rowdiger of Meadowbrook Church of the Nazarene in Fort Worth and Max Smiley of Broadway Baptist Church will officiate.

Born Sept. 13, 1919, in Fisher County, he married Mary Harris in Carrizozo, N.M., in 1937. He was a veteran of World War II and a longtime resident of Sweetwater. He was a retired oil-field pumper.

Survivors include his wife of Sweetwater; four sons, John of San Angelo, Kenneth of Kodiak, Alaska, Lang of Brownwood and Gail of Mansfield; two daughters, Charlotte Perkins of Odessa and Rebecca Smith of Kennedale; five sisters, Bobbie West of Midland, Ruth Hamilton of Rotan, Raye Brown of Alvarado, Evelyn Merryman of Dallas, and Jo Johnson of Houston; 19 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Ray Lawhon, Jack Pierce, Alvin Edwards, Zip Shelton, James Holliman, Taylor Douglas, and Alvin Chastain.
