Edgar Ryland Sutton

Edgar Ryland Sutton, 79 of Chestertown, MD, died November 14, 2015 at home.
Mr. Sutton was born on August 27, 1936, son of the late John Carvel and Elizabeth Lusby Sutton, Sr. In 1954 he graduated from Chestertown High School and enlisted in the U.S. Army, serving during the Korean War. He began his career as a Grain Plant Operator with Brooks Mill and Queen Anne Grain, retiring after 40 years of service. He also drove for Poore's Service Energy. Mr. Sutton was a charter member of Chestertown Elks Lodge and a member of Frank M. Jarman American Legion Post 36.
Along with his parents he was preceded in death by his siblings, Edward, James, William and John Carvel Sutton, Frances Legg and Ann Jones.
Mr. Sutton is survived by his wife of 32 years, Alice Jean Thomas Sutton; children, Dawn Patricia Sutton (Gary DiVito) of Rock Hall, MD, James Edgar Sutton of Ft. Lauderdale, FL and Ryan Lee Sutton of Austin, TX; a sister, Mary Elma Sutton of Crumpton, MD and 3 grandchildren.
A viewing will be held on Tuesday, November 17 from 6 to 8pm in the Galena Funeral Home of Stephen L. Schaech, 118 W. Cross St. Galena, MD. Funeral service will be held Wednesday, November 18 at 11 am in Shrewsbury Parish Church, Kennedyville, MD, burial in adjoining cemetery.
