I grew up in an extended family and remember Saturdays with my great great Uncle Matthew Hotaling who took me for walks in the cemetery behind the little house he lived in with my great grandparents. I promised him I would keep up the family graves and now, though I live in Delaware and the family graves are in upstate NY, I travel up to put the military flags up for Memorial Day, clean them and return in the autumn to clean them up and remove the flags. He also used his love of photography to teach me geneology. The dead have never scared me, the living… well that's another story. I love looking at the stones helping others with their history and cleaning stones if asked.
