Alice Jean Sutton, 'AJ', 84 of Chestertown, MD, died January 19, 2017 in Rock of Ages Assisted Living, Rock Hall, MD.
Mrs. Sutton was born on January 30, 1932 in Wilmington, DE, daughter of the late John W. and Beulah Kate Lewis Thomas. In the 1950's she moved to Rock Hall where she raised her family and worked as a secretary for Chestertown Lumber Company. Jean owned and operated Larrimore's Store in Kingstown and worked for USA Fulfillment and Queen Anne's Grain. She enjoyed collecting Barbie Dolls, traveling, gardening and loved her cat. AJ was an Orioles fan.
Along with her parents she was preceded in death by her husband of 32 years, Edgar R. Sutton in 2015; her brother, John 'Jack' Thomas, Jr and sisters, Dorothy Jensen and Aileen Duhadaway.
Mrs. Sutton is survived by 3 children, Glenn Morton (Paige) and Moe Morton both of Millington, MD and Laura Mason of Virginia; stepchildren, Dawn Sutton (Gary DiVito) of Rock Hall, James E. Sutton of Ft. Lauderdale, FL and Ryan Sutton of Austin, TX, 11 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren.
A visitation will be held on Thursday, January 26 from 12 to 1pm in the Galena Funeral Home of Stephen L. Schaech, 118 W. Cross St. Galena, MD, where funeral service will begin at 1pm. Burial will follow in Shrewsbury Cemetery, Kennedyville, MD.
