Ann was educated in the Bay City public schools. She was employed for many years by Skelly/Getty Oil as an administrative assistant. Ann was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Bay City. She expressed her creativity through art and music. Ann enjoyed oil painting, playing the piano and dulcimer, and she loved to dance. She loved to share her paintings with people she cared about.
While her husband Jerry was employed by Phillips 66, he and Ann lived in Sweeny and Odessa. After retirement they traveled and moved to Whittier, North Carolina. Several years later they relocated back to Texas living in both Yoakum and Brazoria. Following Jerry's death, Ann moved back to Bay City.
Ann is survived by her son: William Darnell & wife Esther; daughter: Connie McCarthy & husband Kevin; 4 grandchildren; 3 great-grandchildren; sister: Kay Meador & husband Don; brother: C. E. 'Sonny' Benedict & wife Evelyn; 2 aunts; and numerous cousins, nieces, & nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents and husband: Jerry DeSteiguer.
The funeral service will be held 2:00 PM Saturday, November 14, 2015 at Taylor Bros. Funeral Home with Rev. Don Meador officiating. Interment will follow at Cedarvale Cemetery in Bay City.
Her family would like to express thanks to her many friends at The Legacy-Independent and Assisted Living, where Ann has resided for the last nine and one half years.
