Arthur Alfred Hyde
Arthur Alfred Hyde was born may 29, 1901, in Scotland County, the son of Reuben Fletcher Hyde and Grace Southmayd. He died Monday, July 26, 1982 at the Scotland County Memorial Hospital. On February 26, 1922, Arthur was married to Teresa Wieland of Memphis, Missouri. Three of the five children born to this marriage survive: Arthur Hyde, Jr. of Memphis, Missouri; Arlene Rutledge, of Conlye, Georgia; and Norma Woods, of Fairfield, Iowa. Arthur was a farmer and lived his entire life on the same land. He was a longtime member of the Brock United Methodist Church. Arthur and Teresa celebrated their sixtieth wedding anniversary last February. Arthur's family were a major part of his life. Arthur was preceded in death by his parents, one sister, Irma Hyde, and two infant children, Geraldine and Lester. He is survived by his wife, his son, and two daughters; three sisters, Mrs. Phoebe Bull, Mrs. Bessie Sylward, and Mrs. LaRue Morris all of Memphis, five grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. Funeral services were held Wednesday, July 28, 1982 in the Payne-Gerth Chapel, Memphis, Missouri. Rev. Ron White officiated. Burial was in the Brock Cemetery. Body bearers were Joe Keller, Bill Kiddoo, Clarence Kiddoo, Austin Eggleston, Roy Hyde, and Harley Baker. Organist was Mary Belle Greeno. Soloist was Ellen Krueger. Arrangements were by Payne-Gerth Funeral Home.
