(Died August 20, 2008)
Mrs. Margaret Wooten passed away Wednesday, August 20, 2008. She was 94 years old. Mrs. Wooten was born January 31, 1914 to Richard Reason Henderson and Winnie Stafford Henderson in the Alaqua Community of Walton County. She was a lifelong resident of Walton County. Mrs. Wooten was Protestant by faith and a member of the First Presbyterian Church of DeFuniak Springs. She graduated from Walton High School in 1932 and continued her education at Florida State University during the summer and winter months for three consecutive years to graduate in 1935. She received a degree in Social Studies and Elementary Education. Mrs. Wooten taught school in Walton County for forty years. She never taught a child in school or Sunday School that she didn't love. For over sixty years she grew flowers. She never ceased to marvel at the creativity of God in creating new varieties of daylilies. Mrs. Wooten's two fold goal in life was to make the world a bit more beautiful because she was living in it, and to make a happier place for others to live in. Her body will be cremation and her ashes sprinkled over water. Her dearest friend is Jesus. May each of her kin, friends, and loved ones know Him too.
Margaret is preceded in death by her parents Richard and Winnie Henderson, her husband J.D. Wooten, six brothers; Pennel, Reason, Conward, Ira, J.R. and Mack, five sisters; Lizza, Lillian, Olive, Crealous and Melissa.
Margaret is survived by one son; Dr. John Wayne Wooten of Pensacola, two grandsons Micheal and Trevor, one sister-in-law Mildren Henderson Roach, numerous nieces and nephews, and great nieces and nephews whom she was very proud of. She is also survived by adopted children that have helped her during her golden years; Ida and Sonny Heath, Lita and Tuck Jones, Hettie and David Myers, and Linda and Terry Smith.
Memorialization will be by Cremation.
Special thanks to all the wonderful staff at the Stanley House assisted Living for making her feel loved and cared for through the past nine years. Also, to the Parthenon Healthcare of Crestview for making her life comfortable in her final days.
Mrs. Wooten had requested that no memorial service be held in her memory but be happy for her as she has reached her glorious home in Heaven where the day lillies never die.
