Frank D. Anderson, our beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend passed away on April 13, 2004 at the age of 66. He was born on August 11, 1937 in Terril, Iowa, to Frank L. and Esther Anderson. He graduated with honors from Valley High School in West Des Moines in 1955. He earned 3 letters in football, 4 in basketball and 4 in baseball. His 4 year record as a pitcher was 123 wins and 3 losses. He earned his B.A. degree from Drake University, Des Moines. From 1959 to 1961 he played for the LA Dodgers. He continued to secure his Juris Doctor in August of 1963. Upon graduation he practiced law and became active in civic affairs. He promoted a professional football team in Des Moines which eventually led to his becoming the President of the league. Included in the league were Des Moines, Omaha, Quad Cities, Chicago, Joliet, St. Paul and Huntsville. In 1968 he joined Continental Western, Des Moines, IA, as legal counsel and later became CEO. Frank was honored by Drake University in 1979 with the Double "D" Award for his efforts as a top-notch student-athlete and his accomplishments as a leader in the community. In 1979 Frank moved to Phoenix. With an investment group he purchased White Eagle Building Material Company, with him as CEO and principal Investor. The company became listed among the Top 100 of Phoenix during the 1980's. In 1991 the company was sold. Frank retired briefly and then went on to become a Project Manager for a national consulting firm. He will be best remembered for his wit, competitive nature, fairness and extreme loyalty to his family, friends and business associates. Frank is survived by his wife Edie, his daughters Kathy Larson, Kelly Anderson, Jana Anderson, Shari Anderson Mead, Brandi Rugantin, Barbi Millis, his grandchildren Krista, Courtney, Tyler, Jeffrey, Anna, his brothers Don, Bruce, Paul and sister Ruth Cook. A Memorial Service will be held on Friday, April 30, 2004 at 2:00 PM at Messinger Mortuary Chapel, 7601 E. Indian School Rd., Scottsdale, AZ. Donations may be made to the American Cancer Society.
