Luella Mae Parker was born June 5, 1932 in Tracy, Iowa the daughter of John J. and Tressa (Shilling) Jones.

She was raised in the Tracy area and graduated from Bussey High School in 1949. On December 22, 1951 she was united in marriage to Hubert Parker. The couple made their home in the Bussey area. Through the years, Luella had worked for Bankers Life, Community National Bank and the Bingley-Dykstra Sale Barn. She also worked at the Knoxville Raceway for over 50 years.

Luella was a devout member of Union Liberty Church for over 60 years and had taught Sunday School for more than 40 years. She also served as a 4-H Leader. In her spare time, Luella enjoyed genealogy and attending her grandkids sporting events. Luella loved spending time with her family and she had a special relationship with her twin sister, Loretta.

Luella passed away on Saturday, October 24, 2015 at the University of Iowa Hospital & Clinics at the age of 83 years.

She was preceded in death by her parents and siblings: Laverne, Lester, Levi, Leonard, Lorraine Tille, Leona, Lena Bankus and Louise Rankin.

Those left to cherish Luella’s memory include her husband Hubert; children: Steve (Donna), Debra (Steve McCurry), Gary, Jerry (Dyan) and Todd (Sheri Arnold); grandchildren and great-grandchildren: Amber Carter (Harrison), April McCrea (Ted), Jared Parker, Cameron Parker, Bailey Parker, Brent Parker, Ethan Carter, Kalin McCrea and Charlotte McCrea; sisters: Lucretia Spaur and Lily Sterling (Dick) of Knoxville and Loretta Redding of Oskaloosa and many other family members and friends.

A Funeral Service for Luella Parker, age 83 of Bussey, will be held on Wednesday, October 28, 2015 at the Union Liberty Church at 10:30 a.m. Burial will follow in the Pringle Cemetery. Visitation will begin after 10:00 a.m. Tuesday at the Bybee & Davis Funeral Home where the family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Memorials may be made to the Union Liberty Church or to the Bussey Fire Department.
