Lorane Crovisier Royce died quietly in her sleep Sunday, October 18, 2015 at Pioneer Care Center.

She was born in Ulen, MN on Sept. 13, 1923 to Joe and Bernice (Pooley) Crovisier. She grew up in Detroit Lakes, attended Moorhead State Teachers College, and taught in several country schools in the area.

She married Harlan Royce in 1945. They had 5 children.

In 1956, the family moved to California where Lorane earned her bachelor and masters degrees and taught for 12 years. During those years Hal and Lorane had a number of foster children. Lorane also was a Campfire Girl and Cub Scout leader. The family moved to Frazee, MN where they ran Royces Family Resort. Lorane taught in Park Rapids for 20 years. In her first year of retirement she and Hal were happy to attend kindergarten activities for grandchildren in 3 different towns.

Lorane was a member of First Baptist Church and Alpha Delta Kappa in Detroit Lakes until moving. She was a member of Daughters of the American Revolution and MN Retired Educators.

Lorane was preceded in death by her infant daughter, Dawna Lorane, husband, Harlan, parents, brothers; Jean, Lyle, Clare, Keith, Kirke and Kent; sisters, Marguerite, Caroline (Rudy) Johnson Constance (Harold) Gilman and Cynthia (Robert) Pellman and foster son, Randy Trujillo.

She is survived by her children; Harlan (Debe) Royce of Moreno Valley, CA, David (Phyllis) Royce of Mpls, Renee (Russell) Larsen of Fergus Falls, Robert Royce of Wadena and foster daughter Nancy Friedman and brother Baird (Carol) Crovisier of CA; five grandchildren, Harlan Royce III, Luke Knudson, Kent Larsen, Kadee Anderson and Claire Smith; seven great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, as well as "grandchildren of the heart".

Funeral Service: 1 PM, Mon., Oct. 26, 2015, at the David- Donehower Funeral Home in Detroit Lakes, MN.

Visitation: 4-6 PM Friday, Glende-Nilson Funeral Home, Fergus Falls and continuing one hour prior to the service at David-Donehower Funeral Home.

Interment: Oak Grove Cemetery, Detroit Lakes, MN
