Mrs. Emelia Schwarz, Resident of County Since 1865, Is Dead
Mrs. Emelia Schwarz, 1011 West Seventeenth street, Davenport, a resident of Scott county since 1865 and formerly of McCausland, died at 5 p.m. Thursday at Mercy hospital after a week's illness.
The decedent was born August 4, 1861 in Germany and came to America with her parents, directly to Scott county, in 1865. She was educated in the rural schools and was married to Andreas Schwarz, March 17, 1877, in Davenport. After their marriage the couple moved to McCausland where they farmed until the death of Mr. Schwarz Dec. 26, 1906. Mrs. Schwarz moved to Davenport in 1925.
Surviving are one daughter, Mrs. Walter Schmidt of Long Grove; six sons, Hugo of Davenport, Fred, at home, Albert of Eldridge, Richard of LeClaire, Andrew of Long Grove and William Schwarz of McCausland; 16 grandchildren; one sister, Mrs. Meta Thode of Davenport, and three brothers, Albert and William Zabel of Eldridge, and Charles Zabel of Davenport. A son, Otto Schwarz, died in 1911.
Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Monday at the Runge chapel. Burial will be in Pine Hill cemetery.
