She was born May 11, 1925, in Emblem, the daughter of Martin and Ella Louise Blank Werbelow. She received her schooling in Emblem and Greybull and graduated from Greybull High School.
She married Clarence James Howe on Feb. 5, 1945, in Albuquerque, N.M. The couple had five children: Clarise, Albert, Beverly, Darlene and Lonney. Clarence died April 22, 1982.
Gladys moved to Boise, Idaho, in 1984 where she became a dancing social butterfly and where she met and married Robert E. Behneman on June 15, 1995. Due to declining health, Bob and Gladys moved into an assisted living facility in 2008. After Bob suffered a stroke and Gladys broke her hip, they were moved to a rehabilitation center to recover. Their children then agreed the couple should move to Dickson, Tenn., to live with Dick and Darlene Davis.
Gladys was an exceptional seamstress and enjoyed cleaning her home. She loved to dance and loved taking care of her grandchildren.
Gladys was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Clarence Howe; her husband, Bob Behneman; six siblings, and her son, Albert Howe.
She is survived by her children and their spouses: Clarise Drinnon of Huntington Beach, Calif., Beverly Wiggins of McEwen, Tenn., Dick and Darlene Howe Davis of McEwen, Tenn., and Lonney and Teresa Howe of Greybull; her siblings and their spouses: Guy and Becky Werbelow Henderson of Greybull, Jean Werbelow of Campbell, Calif., Mary Shepard of Spokane, Wash., George and Joyce Werbelow of Emblem, Joe and Peggy Werbelow of Basin, Clarence and Barbara Werbelow and Pete Werbelow, all of Powell; 14 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren and 15 great-great-grandchildren.
