Mrs. Vernie Fifer, 71, a resident of rte. 1 Dugger, died at 4:15 p.m. Friday. She was born in Greene County, on July 12, 1894, the daughter of Charles and Dora Warren Booker. Her husband, John Edward Fifer, died in 1940.
A son, Richard Wayne, died in 1948.
Surviving are three sons, Robert Fifer of Connersville; Cecil "Blackie" Fifer of Dugger and Jesse "Jiggs" Fifer of Dugger; three daughters, Mrs. Dola Hill, Sullivan; Mrs. Pauline Kruse, Mishawaka; and Mrs. Helen Thompson, Peoria, Ill.; a sister, Mrs. Blanche Hiatt of Sullivan; 21 grandchildren and 29 great-grandchildren.
The deceased was member of the Mount Calvary Methodist church. The body was taken to Newkirks Funeral Home in Dugger. Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. today at the Mount Calvary church with Rev. O. E. Stephens officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery.
