She was born Jan. 31, 1900 in Denison, the daughter of Charles and Clarabel Kennedy Littleton. She moved to Mayetta from Topeka in 1952. She was a member of St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church, Mayetta and had been a member of St. Dominic's Catholic Church, Holton, for the last several years. She was also a member of the Altar Society and the Legion of Mary.
She was married to Jacob Richard Eckert Oct. 11, 1919, in Mayetta. He died April 22, 1984. She was also preceded in death by two granddaughters, Connie Eckert Dick and Cynthia Ann Sage Button.
Survivors include four daughters, Nellie Freed, Mayetta, Marceline Marinich, Canton, Ill., Mary Doyle, Holton, and Marjorie Sage, Elma, Wash.; a son, Dick Eckert, Wetmore; three sisters, Ruth Robison, Denison, Letha Gallaugher, Denver, Colo., and Kathryn Schmear, Longmont, Colo.; 11 grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren, and six great-great-grandchildren.
Mass of Christian Burial will be 10 a.m. Thursday, July 31, at St. Dominic's Catholic Church, Holton. Burial will be in St. Joseph's Cemetery, Hoyt. A rosary will be recited, 7 p.m. Wednesday evening at the Mercer Funeral Home, Holton. Visitation will follow the rosary. She will lie in state after
2 p.m. Tuesday at the Mercer Funeral Home.
Memorials may be given to the Helen Eckert Memorial Fund to be designated later by the family in care of the funeral home.
