Obituary for John William Hurd
John William Hurd, 74, for many years a resident of Eureka, (Utah) died at the home of his son, William Hurd, 108 Locust Street, Midvale, (Utah) Tuesday at 5:37 a.m. of infirmalities incident to age.
Born in St. Louis, Mo., February 20, 1860, Mr. Hurd lived in Eureka (Utah) for the major part of his life. He was a cigar manufacturer and merchant, but retired from active business in 1920. He had lived in Midvale (Utah)for the last three years. Mr. Hurd was a charter member of Eureka Lodge No. 911, B.P.O.E.
Surviving are two sons, William Hurd of Midvale, and Albert Hurd of Salt Lake; one daughter, Mrs. J. A. Clark of Buhl, Idaho; four brothers, Walter G., David. W. H. and A. E. Hurd of Salt Lake and eight grandchildren.
Funeral services will be conducted Thursday at 2 p.m. in the First Methodist church, Second East and Second South streets. The Rev. Rollin H. Aares will officiate. Friends may call at the Bluemel & Knight mortuary in Midvale Thursday until noon and the church prior to services. Interment will take place in the Mt. Olivet cemetery.
